Today we’re talking to you about a couple from Ohio who recently celebrated their 79th wedding anniversary and are both turning 100! Hubert and June Malicote were both born in July 1922. June was born on July 13 and Hubert was born on July 23. They both grew up in rural Kentucky but only met after moving to Ohio to look for work.
The two lovers met at church and became friends. But when their friendship turned into love, they decided to get married and became husband and wife on June 8, 1943. Soon after, they had to spend two years apart during World War II, when Hubert was serving in the Navy at Hawaii. When Hubert returned, the couple created a wonderful life together in Hamilton, Ohio and had three children.
And their legacy now includes seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren! Hubert and June are celebrating their 100th anniversary this year with a backyard party and church service. And their strong faith and love was the basis for living together for 79 years. We never had fights,” Hubert said.
“We never had a single quarrel. We haven’t gone through life without problems, but we would never do anything that could hurt each other. If there is a disagreement, you may need to leave for a few minutes. And after so many years together, June and Hubert still make it a priority to spend time together. Every night they have dinner together and watch a movie, they also kiss before going to bed.
