An incredible story that proves the strength of life of this dog named Jolie. Her owners were devastated and thought they had lost her forever. But it was without counting on the physical form of their faithful companion.
A Danish couple and their Australian Shepherd dog Jolie were on vacation aboard a sailboat somewhere in the Mediterranean bound for Ibiza. On Wednesday June 22, 2022, they suffered a big storm. That’s when Jolie went overboard.
The Coast Guard’s failed attempts to locate and rescue her left her owners with little hope. They naturally thought that she had drowned in the middle of the gigantic waves.
But miraculously, 2 days later, Jolie arrived safe and sound on a beach in Águilas, southeastern Spain.
A moving reunion
Tourists who saw Jolie land wondered where she came from. They then took her to the local police who took care of her and then entrusted her to a local shelter. After checking her microchip, the trainers found that she was domiciled in Denmark. A disturbing fact.
Before they had time to track down its owners, a woman at sea near Calpe, a coastal town nearly 250 kilometers away, contacted them. She had heard the news and wanted to know if the event was real or if she had dreamed it. She couldn’t believe her ears.
The couple therefore reached the port, rented a vehicle and headed hastily to the refuge of Águilas.
The reunion warms the heart. The survivor also testifies to her relief and her joy to find her dear masters. A happy ending that was possible thanks to the resilience of Jolie as well as her identification and the altruism of her rescuers.
