Amazing phenomenon: a horse driving a car…

Just when you think you’ve seen it all, you haven’t — unless you’re used to seeing horses rolling up to the fast food drive-thru in hopes of get some ice cream. Apparently, this was the case in New South Wales, Australia, where a small white horse was seen sitting in the backseat of a car waiting at a local McDonald’s drive-thru.

According to Boing Boing, Rocco the horse was in the mood for a scoop or two of ice cream, so he and his crew walked through the McDonald’s drive-thru for a cone, like you do in summer temperatures.

That’s right, the seasons are reversed south of the equator and our Aussie friends experience summer in our winter months. When another customer queuing at the restaurant saw the animal, he couldn’t help but comment ‘There’s a horse in your car’, to which the occupant of the vehicle responded with a laugh «He’s excited for his ice cream.» Commentator Donna Bivins filmed the amusing exchange and posted the original on TikTok, noting that she first thought it was a large white dog in the back seat of the car and that you just can’t make this stuff up. “Only in Australia,” she added.

The best part of the whole exchange comes after the horse driver explains the reason for the visit and Rocco seemingly shakes his head in agreement. It’s that happy nod up and down given with such enthusiasm that makes the whole episode so comedic. If you want to watch the interaction yourself, you can watch it on the YouTube video below, which was posted by ABC 7 Chicago.

One of their news anchors made the astute observation that this didn’t seem like Rocco’s first time seeing the rodeo behind the wheel, and we have to agree. He seems far too calm and relaxed to be a newbie to this type of excursion — McDonald’s or otherwise.
