Gypsy Rose Blanchard has a life story that has attracted widespread attention for its complexity. Born in 1991, she was led to believe that she suffered from various health problems and disabilities, including leukemia, asthma and muscular dystrophy.
Gypsy spent much of her childhood in doctor’s offices, hospital rooms and the home she shared with her mother, Clauddinnea „Dee Dee“ Blanchard, in Missouri.Rod and Dee Dee divorced, and it was Dee Dee who took care of Gypsy. Rod would visit Gypsy, but Dee Dee never left them alone. During this period, Gypsy also became a celebrity. After Hurricane Katrina devastated their home in Slidell, Louisiana, 14-year-old Gypsy and her mother moved to a house in Springfield, Missouri, thanks to Habitat for Humanity.
It all unraveled on June 14, 2015, when authorities discovered 48-year-old Dee Dee stabbed to death in their home.
Gypsy later recounted that Nicholas had stabbed Dee Dee while she was hiding in the bathroom. After his death, the girl couldn’t believe she was finally free. She felt remorse and guilt, but was overwhelmed by the prospect of starting a new life.
