The policewoman came to save, the dog felt that

A few weeks ago, police officer Angela Laurella received a report of two abandoned dogs tied to poles in a cul-de-sac in Pompano, Florida.

Since there were no surveillance cameras in this dead end, it was impossible to know how long they had been there or who had abandoned them. But with the scorching temperatures of the past few days, Laurella knew there was no time to lose.

Arriving on the scene, Laurella found a very weak gray dog who could barely move because he was tied to the post with a very short leash. He was emaciated, dehydrated and all his bones were protruding.

The dog tied to the post, renamed Liam, put his paw in the officer’s hand and nodded as if to say «Please help me out of here.»

Laurella could see that Liam hadn’t had an easy life and needed special care, so she reached out to the 100+ Abandoned Dogs of Everglades Florida Rescue Center for help. Even though the center was packed, Roman accepted Liam without hesitation.

After many visits to the vet, Liam relaxes at Roman’s, where he gradually regains his strength. Although he still has a long way to go, with many vet appointments, since his rescue Liam has been a real ray of sunshine.

With so many shelters packed, Roman hopes pet owners will reach out to shelters for help and resources before deciding they can’t or don’t want to care for their pets anymore. Liam is proof that all dogs deserve a second chance.

Despite everything he’s been through, Liam still reaches out to humans and still trusts them, proving he’s willing to do anything to have a loving family.
