During the first wedding dance, Victor circles Oksana in his arms, holding her in his arms. Everyone in the room, including the men, is crying.
Oksana, a nurse at a children’s hospital in Lisichansk, was walking home with her boyfriend on March 27, but the road was mined. “I have known about this road for a long time. My man and a friend stopped, and suddenly I saw a shell in the ground and wanted to warn them, shouted: “Zai, look” and showed it, he was looking, and I flew up, ”recalls Oksana.
“She was so strong, she didn’t pass out at that moment, she coordinated everything we did. I was confused and in shock. Oksana screamed, demanding an ambulance, ”recalls Victor.
To speed up the process, the man took the woman in his arms and carried her to the ambulance. “I wanted to cry, but I couldn’t. There was shock and misunderstanding, the fear of losing a loved one, with whom I have been together for six years, ”said the man.

First, Oksana was taken to the Lisichansk hospital, where our heroine underwent four operations. Both her legs were amputated and four fingers of her left hand were cut off. A few days later she was evacuated to the Dnieper. Oksana admits that it was not easy. “I told them that I can’t live like this, that I have two children. I don’t want to be considered sick, it’s scary to be a burden for my relatives, but thanks to their support, I reconciled. They accepted me and gave me back my thirst for life,” Oksana convinces.
Then our heroine began an aggressive rehabilitation program. She practiced for hours every day and filmed the sessions, inspiring other desperate people by her example. The doctors were amazed by Oksana’s willpower. The treatment is still ongoing. “The wounds are still healing and in the near future we will be able to continue rehabilitation and prosthetics,” the surgeon said.
In the coming days, Oksana and her husband will go to Germany for rehabilitation. “He is my help and support. Maybe thanks to him I am very optimistic about life and I can live,” says the nurse.
God does not give us trials that we cannot overcome, so everything will be fine with us, Oksana’s husband convinces.
