This homeless pup had apparently given up until a kind woman helped him and now he looks healthy and happy.

Stray Rescue of St. Louis always puts animal safety first, so when they got a call about a homeless pup sleeping on the streets in the middle of a terrible heat wave, they asked for photos before they went. take any other action to help the dog in a timely manner.

It only took a few minutes for rescuer Donna Lochmann to get to the right place. At first he couldn’t find the dog, so he changed direction at the last moment and saw him. The exhausted dog was trying to cool off in an alley, but it looked like he had given up.

Donna told The Dodo:

“The photo this person sent us showed the dog lying down. It was hard to tell, but it looked like you could see her hips. So I knew it was definitely worth checking out. »

As she got closer, the woman realized the seriousness of the hairy’s condition and that she needed help immediately. Luckily, Donna put the pup in her car and drove him to the safety of the shelter. Staff acted quickly to ensure he was healthy and hydrated.

Donna recalls:

“I saw him there, lying in the street. He was lying in the water coming out of a gutter, probably to cool off because it was very hot.

Donna was deeply touched to see the helpless dog alone on the street, with no energy or hope for the future, and she knew she had to intervene. For years he worked tirelessly to help animals in need.

The lifeguard added:

“When I got to the end of the alley, he must have heard me. I saw him lift his head, look around, then drop it to the sidewalk as if he had completely given up. It just killed me. I thought, ‘There’s no way I’m leaving this dog here.’ »

Fortunately, the downed dog had no trouble being rescued by Donna. He even managed to walk to his vehicle without a leash.

When he got into the vehicle, the pup felt right at home. The adorable pup, later nicknamed Curby, happily accepted his «journey to freedom» until he was safe, according to the shelter.

Curby adores his foster family and his pooch brother, who loves to snuggle up to him. Since his arrival, the canine has transformed physically and emotionally and has also become more playful.
