Every mother’s instinct, whether human or animal, is to protect her children, and what this cat did in New South Wales, Australia is a perfect example of what a mother can do to save her creatures.
A passer-by noticed a family of cats on the side of the road, consisting of a mother and her three kittens. He immediately called the Terry Hills rescue team, CatRescue 901. When they arrived, the cat approached the rescuers and led them right to where her three kittens were. She was skin and bones, and clearly went out of her way to keep her creatures fed and safe.
Four cats were in need of medical attention and when they arrived at the shelter it was obvious they were starving. After evaluating their condition, the veterinarians realized that the three kittens had eyelid agenesis, a congenital condition that left them without eyelids and would have left them blind if not properly treated.
They were fed, bathed and allowed to rest on comfortable beds. Medications were also prescribed and cat mom Elodie felt better, especially after being spayed.
Jenny, the founder of the rescue group, mentioned that they landed at the right place at the right time. “Not many people could handle eye agenesis surgery because it’s too expensive,” she told Lovemeow. The road to recovery is still ahead, but the important thing is that their mom, Elodie, is confident that they are definitely in good hands.
This is Elodie, the feline mom who went out of her way to keep her kittens fed and safe, but she clearly had a hard time getting on with her life.

They seemed friendly and harmless.
But on closer inspection, it became clear that they needed immediate medical attention.
They all had a condition called ocular agenesis, which could lead to blindness if not treated immediately.
As soon as they were taken to the shelter, they were bathed, fed and allowed to rest properly.

The road to recovery is still long, but they are finally safe and a talented staff of compassionate people are now taking care of them
