This incident happened in Spain. The little dog was only 10 months old when she arrived at the shelter in a terrible state. She was so emaciated that she was left with bones covered in skin.
Nobody knows what kind of cruel people brought her to such a state, but animal rights activists learned that she was locked in a room for a long time without food or drink. The dog was a girl and was given the nickname Barilla, drawing an analogy with Italian spaghetti due to excessive thinness.
And her muscles, from malnutrition, was almost atrophied, she couldn’t walk and stood on her feet with great effort. But the owner of the shelter, Eduardo Rodriguez, decided to take on the task of rescuing the animal and providing Barilla with the appropriate care.
When she arrived at the shelter, she weighed only 7 kilos 200 grams, and now she weighs almost three times as much. However, at first few believed in the success of her treatment, as she could only weakly wag her tail and move her head with difficulty.
Eduardo assures that in the years of his practice he has never encountered a dog in such terrible condition and that she simply would not have survived another night on the street.
At first Barilla ate with great difficulty, but after a few weeks the crisis phase of the disease was overcome. She now lives in her savior’s house and has befriended five of his other dogs.
